Hi Gustavo,

Thanks for the info and my apologies for not replying sooner.

It looks very promising. When do you think you'll add the support for images?

I'd be very interested in this if it can handle the same feature set as Aeroo including pictures and barcode support and ODS/ODF templates.

I use Aeroo heavily right now and I haven't heard of any plans yet to port it to 9.0. It's one of the main things blocking me from moving to 9.0.

What kind of funding would be needed to port the module to 9.0 once it's finished?

It was developed for v8.0, but I foresee no big problem in the porting to v9
It has a similar feature set of Aeroo Reports (once it can handle images), but with a very pragmatic approach (no libs, no install problems, just open standards file format handling).
As already said, it is work in progress, so any idea is welcomed.

Hi Gustavo,

This looks very interesting indeed. Can this handle roughly the same functionality as Aeroo Reports, and is it targeting the 9.0 branch?

One of the main things stopping me from creating a pilot project with 9.0 is the lack of a 9.0 branch for Aeroo Reports, or an alternative. If this can handle much of the same functionality I would be very interested in testing it out.

In this public github repo https://github.com/gamarino/numa_public.git you will find numa_opendoc_reports, a module to produce OpenDoc documents out of OpenDoc templates.

You can create a report, design a template using a syntax similar to the old RML reports and once this report is applied to the object it will create an editable OpenDoc file.

It can handle odt, ods and odp templates and outputs, son you can use it to generate something that can be converted to an excel file.

For sure it can handle static images, tables (in odp docs also), and the output documents are editable and thus the can be further improved to get the final result

It is still work in progress. It does not handle dynamic images yet, but if you want to add the feature, I'll be gratefull!!

It does not need any additional library in order to work. Everything is contained in the module itself

I'll appreciate your comments

It sounds great but can I ask if it can help me with these needs:
  • I need to format the invoice and use styles, tables for X2many fields and so on.
  • I need to add 'Charts' based on the data in the invoices, if possible.
  • I need to add the company information including the logo.
These are the requirements I have, the most important are the 1st and 2nd points.

Thank you again.

Dear Magdy,

I use that same module in version 8 and 9 (ported) works fine for me.

Using the report_xls module, i developed a custom xls report with 15 sheets of xls file  contains custom tables & style.

I created a custom module to download xml format (report_xml) using report_xls as reference.

So you can create your own module to create xls with report_xls as base dependency to download XLS file same like PDF download(using wizard).

Dear Senthilnathan,

I really appreciate your kind support.

These modules will not work for Odoo 9.0, and it is not enough for me. Let me explain more:
  • I need to format the invoice and use styles, tables for X2many fields and so on.
  • I need to add 'Charts' based on the data in the invoices, if possible.
  • I need to add the company information including the logo.
These needs are not covered in the existing modules.

Magdy,

You can use export option and create a export field list to download the format with fields.

Otherwise you can use report_xls module from https://apps.openerp.com/apps/7.0/report_xls/ to create your own custom format of xls.

You can use the same reference to create other report file format such as xml,csv

Dear Experts,

I was looking for a module to export the invoices to MS Excel so that the user can use it after exporting it.

As you know, it is important for many users to have reports that exported in *.xlsx format rather than the PDF version.

I did not find any. So, should I write my own or someone will push it for the community?

Thanks in advance :)
