Re: V8 : Knowledge management with webdav reachable from Windows explorer

All,

I recently have been testing out a number of issues on this.  So 2 comments I’ll make here:

1) I’ve had success getting the Webdav module working on v8.  You’ll want to use the following version of it , webdav_fast. In testing, it seemed a bit slow for what I was looking for, but it definitely allowed access to the files from my Mac finder (similar to windows explorer).  I used this blog article to aid with setup : http://www.zbeanztech.com/blog/webdav-openerp.  I was able to get files and also to drag/drop files into the folders and have them show up on the Odoo objects.

2) In the end, the solution that is working best for our workflow is to use the Drag and Drop app   I purchased this from the app store and it is working beautifully.  Kudos to the Synconics team for a great job.  I recommend this for people looking for easy attachment in Odoo.

Hope that helps,
Nick

Slides can have private channels and specific rights for upload.
Now it wont solve your request which was the original document_ftp in v7.
Maybe think about porting forward this module to v9

Eric,

In my brief look at the slides module, doesn't it just share documents on the website?

I have a similar problem to Van Hirtum Johan, we really want our users to be able to drop files onto an Odoo document from there local machine rather than having to use the web interface.  The best example is when we receive an order from a customer via emailed PDF.  We attach these documents to our Sales Order for our records.  Right now, we have to drag that document out of outlook to our desktop, then click on Odoo to attach a doc, then find it in the file explorer.  It's very cumbersome and could be much faster if Odoo created a folder for the Sales Order on the FTP and we dropped files into it.

If anybody has a solution for this, I'd be happy to pay for it!!!

Thanks
Nick

Hi experts,

We want to implement the knowledge management module in Odoo to manage and structure all our company documents. There are Odoo related files ( Sales / partners / HR ) but also CAD drawings and computer / machine manuals with would come in static directories. Those files are mostly opened and saved from standard Windows applications ( CAD program / Word / Excel /…. ). The Odoo documentation states that this can be done with the webdav or Ftp access. We can configure our server and in some Webdav clients we can access the files, but we do not find al solution to open the files in Windows explorer. Has anybody an idea how this can be achieved ?

Thanks in advance !!!

With kind regards,

Van Hirtum Johan
