Re: Odoo on Macby
Yes, it’s possible.
I have done it with Odoo version 7 and with version 8.
And I really like the simplicity of the apple server. But it’s has also it’s flaws because of this.
But I personally don’t think it’s the best option, because you have to install a lot of modules with dependencies on the mac (for example python 2.7 and a lot of additional modules) besides the python version which is installed by apple.
Also troubleshooting is not as straight forward. Updating (bug fixes etc) is much harder, because you need to do it yourself.
If you really need to install it on apple hardware, then use a virtual machine on it. And use for example Ubuntu LTS version. I have done this also, and is much easier than the bare apple server with odoo. Also the snapshot and backup/restore is much easier this way.
For the client, there is no native app on osx, just use your browser :-)

Hi all, We had an inquiry from a company that wants to install Odoo on a Mac server. Does anyone know if this is possible and also if there is a native mac client? Many thanks in advance, Nuria
Theoretically it is possible.
Just take care that install postgresql is sligthly different and probably python version is not the newest one.
In other points some libs you will need to intall them using brew or manually.
I do not have all teh precise information but it is completely possible.
IOH: Do not use MAc Server if you can avoid it, recommend rent a good server.
