Re: Rules for new Posts in the Communityby
Unsolicited advertising is spam and illegal in many jurisdictions (definitely Europe, UK and NZ) without prior permission (the old Yes, I agree to receive promotional offers blah blah from third parties). Better to just have a new list where people who want this stuff can sign up. Personally I don't mind seeing it, I like to know what is going on but I completely understand anyone who is dead against it, it is not what they signed up for which was a list for discussing topics important to the community. Odoo could even charge advertisers.

It has been 6 months since Odoo SA announced the change to licensing - it is time that this mailing list got with the program and stopped all the unreasonable treatment of those who have chosen to develop modules under LGPL licenses.I suspect that many people joined the list when it was for a platform called TinyERP or OpenERP - so surely they should be bothered about receiving information about this crazy thing called Odoo. It is the same argument and demonstrates how it is clearly an irrelevant one. The platform moves on and this list must reflect reality not open-source zealotry.JamesBetter to do the opposite.
Set up a new mailling list to send advertise about pais modules.
A recently thread about a BI view, got a lot of +1 emails, probably the module will never be released as open source, so its quite annoying to keep receiving those kind of emails.
Remember, the list was created when odoo didnt have paid modules, so I think it bother people receiving advertise about modules in this list.

Mohamed,As it is officially sanctioned by Odoo SA to have paid for modules on the odoo platform then nobody should be allowed to say that these are not allowed to be mentioned on the community mailing list - after all they may well be relevant to all members of the list and this may have been exactly why they joined the list in the first place. Whoever criticised you or your brother should hang their heads in shame and publically apologise to you on this list.If there are some people who cannot bear to read about paid for modules on this mailing list then they should persuade the OCA or someone else to set up a mailing list where they can discuss whatever it is they like in a world of AGPL purity and not trouble everyone else with their out of date opinions on the official Odoo SA mailing list here.James

I can see we have a new commercial module on the community with no single attack for using the Community Mailing List (CML) for personal and commercial purposes.
All people are doing a great job, but it is not fair to have all the fire for someone and the flowers for the other for NO REAL REASONS.
This email is an invitation to set a list of rules for the members to use the CML, and to stop this.
I think I will stop publishing my new courses for Odoo, I am not sure if my brother will do the same until we have a clear rules for what is allowed and what is not.
