Currently, if I am not wrong there is already customer field autoselected when the email of lead matches customer.
Usually, the same customer comes again, for diff need is a separate lead. so this should not be a duplicate.
While assigning the lead we can do a little check and develop this.
Let us know if this did leave any doubts.

For your assistance please. Is there a way for Odoo CRM to notify sales personnel that there is already a customer created under that name (Manual Creation or Import).
