Odoo 2015 summer release was just a fancy name given by our marketing team to
the 'saas-6' branch And no, it's not
Odoo v8.1 as there are no point release.

But your interpretation regarding Odoo enterprise is correct:

Odoo Enterprise = Community + enterprise add on modules, to deploy on premise

Odoo Online = Community + enterprise add on modules, hosted on our cloud
pricing on

Currently Odoo Online saas-6 == Odoo Community saas-6

In beta test for selected customer only we added the enterprise branch that currently contains

sale_ebay ebay integration
delivery_fedex fedex integration
website_sign electronic document signature

The next release v9 will be the first one to official contains Enterprise module.

The features are listed here (caveat
page is still WIP).

Those modules are currently on the branch that will be renamed
9.0 at the release.

Early access for partners to the branches is available it provided that:

- they read and understand the terms and conditions about distribution and
execution of the software. In short it's only allowed with a valid OE and when
usage is limited to a testing or development environment.
- they sign the partnership contract addendum
- they have a call with their account manager about the business strategies
and opportunities and show a genuine business interest in the enterprise
product line (i.e. plan to sell it).

Then the account manager can give them access to repositories.

I hope this clears up the confusion.
