Re: db management interface: duplicate vs restore as a copy

Hi Alexandre

To my knowledge, database management launches postgresql commands
Backup : pg_dump
Restore : pg_restore
Duplicate : CREATE DATABASE new_clone WITH TEMPLATE old_database

I guess (not sure) dbuuid is something like the postgresql id for your database

Hi all,

I'm looking at the Database Management user interface, and puzzling over the mode field in the Restore dialog.

When you use "copy of an existing database", the only difference I can see is that the dbuuid will be regenerated. Which raises two questions:

1. what is the dbuuid used for?
2. why is a new dbuuid not generated when I use the Duplicate function of the Database Management interface?

Thanks for you insights.
