Re: POSBox Error

Hi,

If your posbox works fine with the barcode scanner then your configuration is fine.

In the posbox python code, the endpoint address is hardcoded, maybe the hardcoded value is wrong for your printer ?
Or there might be another compatibility issue between your printer and the library ?

Before start create your Python ESC/POS printer instance, you must
see at your system for the printer parameters. This is done with
the 'lsusb' command.

First run the command to look for the "Vendor ID" and "Product ID",
then write down the values, these values are displayed just before
the name of the device with the following format:

  xxxx:xxxx

Example:
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1a2b:1a2b Device name

Write down the the values in question, then issue the following
command so you can get the "Interface" number and "End Point"

lsusb -vvv -d xxxx:xxxx | grep iInterface
lsusb -vvv -d xxxx:xxxx | grep bEndpointAddress | grep OUT

The first command will yields the "Interface" number that must
be handy to have and the second yields the "Output Endpoint"
address. By default the "Interface" number is "0" and the "Output Endpoint"
address is "0x82", if you have other values then you can define
with your instance.

Thanks for so many suggestions.

My POSBox is actually connected to the network. I did ssh pi@POSBox_IP_Adress and worked fine. Moreover, when I hit Validate I get following in POSBox logs-
Jul 13 11:09:03 posbox openerp-server[573]: print_b64_img
Jul 13 11:09:03 posbox openerp-server[573]: raw image

So, I think POSBox is getting the command from POS.

Also, the manual says- "Once the PosBox is ready, it should print a status receipt
with its IP Adress. Also, the last status led, just after the red power status led, should be permanently lit green"

But in my case neither the status receipt prints nor green led lits permanently. Infact, red led is ON and at intervals green LED lits. Is something wrong with my POSBox? My hardware is fine as when I connect barcode scanner directly it works fine.

And yes I have entered POSBox IP address in the configuration and the scale is unavailable in the configuration.

Thanks in advance.

i couldn't get the POSbox to work until i actually entered the IP address of the Raspberry PI in the configuration.
Only then it worked. So maybe entering the IP address will help?
Also, if there is no scale, make it unavailable through proxy in the configuration settings of your Odoo server.
Hope this helps,
Ron

OK my SD Card is 8GB and I flash it with the latest version.

Now, I connected my printer and scanner to my POSBox and the status page shows all is successfully connected. See attachment.

My printer is Epson TM-T82II and I added  { 'vendor' : 0x04b8, 'product' : 0x0201, 'name' : 'Seiko Epson Corp.' }, in odoo/addons/hw_escpos/escpos/supported_devices.py file on POSBox.

Even in Point of Sale everything shows connected. But neither the scanner nor printer works.

When I hit Validate this is what I get in POSBox logs but nothing prints-
Jul 13 11:09:03 posbox openerp-server[573]: print_b64_img
Jul 13 11:09:03 posbox openerp-server[573]: raw image

Please tell me what I missed.

I had no problems using apt-get update; apt-get upgrade (which gets the nightly odoo version) and apt-get autoremove.

A git pull may be too much, especially when depth larger than one.

Hope this helps

Hello
The posbox software installed on the SD card is a linux distribution.
The root directory is probably not large enough for 2 system. (same kind of message for any other pc with linux distribution)
The issue can be solved by deleting the release which will be replaced by the new one.
my 2 cents
