Re: Cutting through OCA Repo Complexity

Hey Fellows

as Franck Le Gall noted, it can somehow be cluttersome to manage various code bases. Odoo, OCA, Openupgrade, just to name a few... The traditional way would be to use python's virtualenv and that stuff.

However, here is a new and very simplistic proposal leveraging docker at it's best. You can use it on linux, osx, and windows without notable differences. Assuming you have your host environment set up properly.

If you dare to tackle docker, please give it a try and let me know, where there is more elaboration needed:

Hi David
Great initiative; as a non IT expert I must admit that I cannot capture anything from what is post on the list; no to speak of the available resources.
Please have a focus on robust business needs, not only on coding expertise and the like.

Hey Fellows

I have a hard time dealing with some OCA legacy decisions which are sign of a remaining and relatively strong inside-out perspective.

If you have found it hard to enter the OCA world, I plan to publish a blogpost series which might help you understand some things, or might help you with some odds, that might have scared you away so far.

Update cycle will be, as I stumble over oddities, as of my own free perception.

Here is the first post about how to reduce complexity in repository management when dealing with those OCA Collections Repositories.

Best and enjoy
