Thanks for the response, currently our shops, warehouses, and head office are all located within Hong Kong. We haven't yet tried the Odoo POS in the multiple shop locations sharing a central database, however I would think that having a master-slave setup for databases for read only, and then a master database for read/write in our head office would probably be more suitable from what I understand in terms of performance.
We are interested in migrating from a legacy POS system to integrating all retail shops, warehouse, and head office with Odoo to centralise inventory, pricing, accounting reports, etc. however this is not an immediate need. We are currently researching the possibility of this in order to determine if it is currently viable with Odoo (8.0) to accomplish this.I'd be interested in discussing this more with you in the future to see if this is feasible given our requirements.Regards,
Depending on where located the shops you might need multiple db. But most of the time this is not necessary. We have a customer running pos and companies in the same db in China hk Singapore (in 7 though the multi company setup was tricky to fix... In 8 it should be easier).
One vs multi db is more about how much information you have to share between the companies/locations
Thanks for the advice. Do you have any experience with having multiple geographically distributed locations (eg. shops with POS, head office for sales personnel, warehouse for warehouse personnel), running off the same Odoo database?
I think we would need to have separate databases that share the same data, and the only way I can think of accomplishing this is through some sort of multi-master scenario, unless the local databases were a master-slave setup between the head office and the geographically distributed locations, and local databases were only used for read transactions while the master database in the head office was used as the write database.Do you know of any Odoo instances running in Geographically distributed locations sharing the same data and how they have accomplished this?
LukeThank you!But you can find the stock location on POS , at there you can create your different POS for different stock location.Hello,Actually Shop functionality has been totally deprecated on odoo8 with new WMS.On Fri, Jun 26, 2015 at 10:14 AM, Dhaman Odoo <email@example.com> wrote:This message is eligible for Automatic Cleanup!
