the only way to work that i know is to send important emails manually, ex. send by email on quotation .

I am not quite sure how this problem should be addressed, clearly people would want to be able to not be spammed by every little update, but have the facility to get things emailed out to them, currently suppliers get a notification email on order confirmed (as they are added as a follower) then they get the actual email of the order and there is no way to do the latter without doing the former.

(I have posted this in the forum with no luck so far. I hope my "fate" to change here)
A supplier invoice needs to be approved so I put the approver's name as follower. Once the invoice is ready, I validate it , status changes from Draft to Open, the change is reflected in the chatter but the follower is never informed.
For testing purposes I have informed him via email that he was being added as a follower and he did receive the email (this was done just to check that the email system was finding no issues with his email address).
So, in a nutshell, what may I be making wrong that the follower is not being notified of the change in status?
