Re: Help needed: Wikipedia page deletedby
almost nothing there at the moment though, just some notes. I was waiting on seeing the previous page in the hope it would be a better starting point than nothing. Feel free to edit the page such as it is and lets get something going, might be worth merging with the old page at some point.

In order to volunteer there first needs to be a
vacancy. This is about communication, about community, about
perpectives on a shared future, yes?
Well, indeed we all agree that the previous version of the Odoo Wikipedia page was not great and not using a Neutral point of view as much as needed.
That does not mean no Wikipedia page about Odoo should exist. The rule to have a page is based on notability (guideline at: https://en.wikipedia.org/?title=Wikipedia:Notability). My personal opinion is that thanks to solid research by academics, national & international press coverage, Odoo deserves such a page. Others might agree or not - but having a page of poor quality did not help the argument.
This is the opportunity for someone who is interested Odoo, who agrees it deserves a page, and with Wikipedia 'background' to step up and stand for it. To warrant objectivity, Wikipedia admin has now asked to have it done by someone independent to the matter and as staff we are not necessarily perceived as such, and no 'SPA' (Single Purpose Accounts, ie accounts that only maintain a single topic or a few) ... I disagree with this (it's not because some of us are staff, partners, that we can only write advertising), but that's the situation.
People that will take the matter forward will obviously do that in full independence. The objective of this thread was to simply signal the issue to the community in the hope some people could change the situation. Because it's indeed 'our' page with 'our' referring to the Odoo community at large. So far apart from the discussion few volunteered.

I am really confused as to why of this decision. I was using this page as a reference for my customer prospects as well as the main Odoo website.
How is it that Microsoft, Netsuite, or even smaller private companies like LivePerson have a Wikipedia page?
What is the difference?

within wikipedia there needs to be some kind of validation for such statement. an opinion will not do. you will need an outsider paper - preferably an article in a respected magazine. wikipedia strives to be opinion-neutral, so perhaps you can help them validating the above statement?
hope this helps, best regards, Ron@ Alexandre:
This sentence says it all: "Our Odoo page on Wikipedia has been deleted...."
your email address and signature indicate you are an employee of Odoo S.A. ... well ... don't you get it?
I am not a wikipedia activist nor expert but I'd just say it's an encyclopedia and the nature of an encyclopedia is not that commercial Companies right articles about themselves and their products.
so, I guess that was totally justified it got pulled. Strangely you seem to feel treated unfair. I also I am not 100% sure whether you should expect help from the community mailing list in this.
