This might also help.
You can also use a "depth" limitation as in the following:

git clone --branch 8.0 --depth=1 $ODOO_DIR

Though I notice I don't hae a Branch Limitation myself so better get on that as well.
--depth-1 cuts the download in half.

Not really good for development but good to make a quicker pull.

You need to update your git. It's introduced in 1.7.10

"git clone" learned "--single-branch" option to limit cloning to a
   single branch (surprise!); tags that do not point into the history
   of the branch are not fetched.

In other words: Your git clone will run faster and use less disk space as you don't fetch the entire repo

The single branch option is unknown

So to clone, I used the commande without the single branch option; What it the impact of it ? will it impact my odoo installation ?
