Re: Protecting the Community

I have a strong feeling that if the same thing that happened to me happen to anybody here you would feel the same way. It's unfortunate that so many people are out for themselves and on the flip side those who look out for others are looked upon as if they are vindictive.

Speaking for me personally, nothing that I would have to say would be vindictive it would be purely for the benefit of the community. if you ask me without a ethical and transparent community the chances of overall success across the community is diminished.

Those who are honorable to their commitments should have no concern regarding the exposure of those who are dishonorable. Quite the opposite actually, I would think that those you are trying to do the right thing would want to weed out all of the individuals who are not doing the right thing. Situations like this give a very bad name to the open source community, which is dependent on the relationship between those who wish to implement such software, and those who contribute to that process.

I have been involved with big business in the United States and there are many reasons why the United States business world is skeptical of open source, one of them is the thought that it is not a safe bet to work with oversea developers because of this exact reason. Obviously that is not true, but the fact still remains when situations like this happen it only makes for those who feel that way to feel stronger.

9 times out of 10 it has nothing to do with the recruiting process. I think it is foolish to propose that it is the client's fault for not identifying an a ill-will individual and thus not working with him. That is like saying it is the fault of the convenience store owner that he opened his store and allowed a robber to rob him.

As I said befoor, sharing is a bad idea.

And it would not only disclose the name of the "failing" party, but also give strong hints, that the recruiting process was probably lacking ..

Next to that, the original email some how has the smell of blackmail

Yes please share. I also have had this SAME experience with an Odoo developer. Last night I was debating whether or not I should expose him in order to protect others. If I get some feed back wanting me to do this I will but I want to make sure that people understand that I am not trying to be spiteful but rather protect others from having the same thing happen.

Wanted to share with the community recent negative experience that I had with one of the freelance Odoo developers.

Developer failed to deliver the committed requirements nor agreed to refund the money.

I will be happy to share the name and address of the developer for people interested in the same.

Thought of just warning the community ..be careful of such people. I guess sharing such experience should help us in excluding people that would harm the community.

Regards,

Hussein – Azmina Solutions.
