Re: e-Commerce and Website in OpenERP 7by
Look likely, Kang Riki Kurbiawan realy loves odoo V8 web UX, but in other side you dont want take the risk in production by migrating into V8.
Yes, odoo is on top python & nice custom web server, it means eCommerce or web site similarly can do the same in case you make your own web coding. But you cannot get the same like V8, because odoo has changed so many javascrips codes in client side.
If you have eCommerce with thousand of users, better magento is an alternative. It is not wise placing on a single INSTANCE. Your internal ERP will become slower and hard to maintain
I think the Magento vs Odoo e-commerce dispute is somehow not fair.Regardless of versions.Magento is a specialized e-commerce venue while Odoo is an integrated, far-reaching and comprehensive environment where e-commerce is just another flavour that may be used.Comparing specialized, niche software vs an ERP is somehow detrimental against the latter.Just my thought.LpOn 5 March 2015 at 16:57, Rohit Thakral <firstname.lastname@example.org> wrote:Nuria,The comparison is between the cost and effort of upgrading to v8 and integration of magento to v7.We have done some integrations between Magento and v7 and I don't think it is that difficult but yes if there are no modules to be upgraded then v8 upgrade may be much easier than thought. On Thu, Mar 5, 2015 at 3:41 PM, Nuria Arranz Velazquez <email@example.com> wrote:Sorry, I disagree with that.<blockquote cite="mid:CADUXqQcsAaxp7rg2s2vRMVc_NoOXS6nACas7nRvPPgzupXTofirstname.lastname@example.org" type="cite">
In principle, it is a lot more robust and safe to use one system than the integration of two. Specially when it comes to Magento, which let's face it, is a nightmare to integrate, please have a look at the libraries.
I'm actually looking at this at the moment for ourselves and other customers, and my conclusion is that you are better off migrating to V8 and using the new themes combined with Odoo's e-commerce, which fully integrates with Accounting, Sales & Purchases.
The benefits are endless.

My thought... use Magento to Odoo sync.
Magento is still much more powerful than just Odoo ecommerce site.

I wonder if there is any possibility to have e-Commerce and Website in OpenERP 7 just like the one in Odoo 8?
Step 1.- Buy an Enterprise.
Step 2.- Upgrade your DB.
Step 3.- Download migrated db.
Step 4.- Upgrade your custom code.
Step 5.- Test locally.
Step 7.- Repeat 2 and 3 until you feel confortable.
It is highly more efficient than backport or even continue using v7.0 you will not regret. ;-)-
