Hi,

You cannot use MySQL as DBMS for OpenERP. Because OpenERP uses psycopg2, 
that is made only for PostgreSQL.

However, you can get data from an external MySQL database in your 
modules. But, if you want to use the OpenERP ORM, you must use Postgresql.
