The best way is using the import functionality in Odoo under the tree views.
Some things you have to think about:
- Importing into a workflow doesn't work so if you import sales orders, the moment the client want's to print them they become quotations again.
- Importing lot's of data (1000+ rows can become extremely slow)

You could make a module just for importing the data, if you have a large amount of data.
