Re: Multi packing slip template dynamic based on data in single report ideaby
Hertford Developments Limited, Kurt Haselwimmer
This is quite a common use case - multichannel/multistore online vendors who wish to integrate everything with a single back end but need to product paperwork that reflects the channel/store that the customer came through.
Last time I looked though (on saas) there was no way to establish customer groups, apart from using tags. Whilst it may be traditional to reach for the "let's build a module" handbook every time a non-standard requirement comes up, it is perhaps more maintainable, and usable, especially on saas, if the effect of choosing the correct invoice layout/delivery email can be achieved using server actions and automated actions. I would be interested in such an approach as I am committed to using odoo's saas so that I can sleep knowing that odoo will handle the platform migrations every time they fix each little bug.
Good morning,To my opinion it works best to make a connection between the required layout and the specific customer.Extra field in the basic customer data called "pickingslip layout".If empty, system uses the standard layout. Also possible to work with groups.Make connection between specific layout and a "customergroup".Then fill in the customergroup in a new field in the customercard.Requires some work to create the specific lay-outs, but to my opinion it is the most flexible way of working.Regards,Peter van Montfort

I don't have an idea. Even if they select a vendor at one time, I want them to just use one report that will detect the template needed based on the data. I could make this work with an action, but this would only work if they printed only one vendor at a time. It would be really cool if it would work dynamically. The business user would filter and select from a tree view the delivery orders to ship. I need a different template to be used depending on the department custom field. If its Home Depot, using packing design A, if its Groupon use Design B.My client sells to many different channels like Home Depot, Living Social, Groupon, etc. Each of these vendors requires their own packing slip design. The vendors actually take the packing slip very seriously, but to me it's so annoying because I don't want to spend all day writing packing slip designs.
Anyway, I want to print a packing slip depending on a custom field called department. The field basically just says what order channel the order came from.
In the end the user would be returned a single PDF with multiple packing slips and mixed order channels.
I am looking for a description of how this could work.
