I agree with Oleg. I would rather export Odoo data to a different database/server in order to keep the transactional environment separate from the analysis environment

Also what you might need to know is that in case you are planning to have large database with complex report queries, you shouldn't connect Pentaho directly to Production Odoo database. As it may slow down performance of the whole system and Odoo users will experience slowly working Odoo.

The most requested thing in my experience is usage of Pentaho as separate system or embedding it into existent customer portal (like described here). In that case Pentaho server is not connected directly to Production ERP database. It connects to intermediate database that is copy of production DB and gather all data from there not to influence performance of main system.
