Thanks for your advise Stephen.

Cristian, It is a great project. I will take a look on it.

Gunnar, I see it is a very ambixious project. Lets see what happen.

Timothy, please let us know when you have your upgrade done for odoo v8.

I'll take a look at https://code.launchpad.net/~moldeo-openerp-addons/openerp-hr-clock-reader  Michael

Mike,

you are right, the fingerprint registration is a nice request. The problem is I didn't write the code from the documentation, but I take a lot of time in reverse engineering. If someone else are interesting about this, and you found the documentation, I will clone it in github and start to make it works in v8.0 and add fingerprint registration.

Cristian.

And a very useful module it is too. I used it to integrate Suprema
finger print scanners for attendance taking without too much work. I'll
put it up on Github when I have time.

One thing you should be aware of is that the fingerprint registration,
etc has to be done with the software that comes bundled with the
hardware. As far as I know there isn't any module that would allow you
to do this from OpenERP itself (maybe the new project mentioned here can
do that?). Also, make sure that the fingerprint scanner has a linux SDK
otherwise you'll have to hack together a pipe to connect OpenERP to the
scanners. I couldn't find a linux sdk for the suprema machines so I had
to create a Windows app as a remote control. OpenERP would periodically
poll for fingerprints (like every half hour or whatever) by calling a
python web service script running on a windows machine with the ip
address of the fingerprint reader. The python script would then use the
windows app to poll the fingerprint scanner and return the results back
to OpenERP. It was a hack but it worked well.

Regards,
Mike
