Re: Automate stock move with location barcodesby
I have done this many times. I work with ecommerce companies with large warehouses and they need to move stock all the time, but never want to use the desktop interface. They also receive product, do information lookup, reslotting, even printing to a network printer . We looked at lots of hardware devices and went with the Dolphin 7800 because it supports HTML5 out of the box and has an integrated barcode scanner. Not many devices out there support HTML5. You could also do ipod/ipad with a bluetooth scanner.
We created a couple of different applications that use the web browser on the device, not a proprietary app. This way your app works on any device with a web browser. We used flask, and web2py as the web framework. The last app we did had a full jquery interface, it was really nice. You can create almost anything, and use the Odoo api to do anything the desktop client can do. It's also really easy to create any functionality you want and just call it through the xmlrpc api.
I have been following the progress of the Merpati app for about a year now, and I think it is a phenomenal rendition of odoo in a mobile environment. I am very interested to learn more about this warehouse management app you are talking about, but in the meantime I will read up on that blog link you sent me and hope to find a solution to my need. Please keep me updated as to the progress and release date information for the warehouse management mobile app you speak about. Checkout mERP application that we have created. It allows you to attach barcode scanner to any field https://merpapp.com/blog/barcode-scanner-integration-with-odoo/
Plus, we are now working (70%) finished on specialize app based on mERP just for warehouse for scanning a lot of barcodes (locations, Products and etc.)
Let me know if you need more info.

I noticed that a few Odoo Android apps that do almost exactly what I require.
however the ability to scan a lot barcode rather than a product barcode is not available from what I have found.
I think a mobile app is most likely the way to go. Bow to figure out how to utilize the Lot barcode rather then the product barcode. On Dec 6, 2014 12:05 PM, "John Pia Jr" <email@example.com> wrote:
All, I am trying to determine the best way to automate stock moves of product around my warehouse. My idea goes as follows:
I would have like for the warehouse operators to be able to select a product lot by scaning a LOT barcode,
The user would then be prompted to enter the product quantity they would like to move > then they would have to scan a LOCATION barcode (source)
Finally once they have moved their product to a new location within the warehouse, they would scan the destination LOCATION barcode (destination).
Now the tricky part here is that I would like to be able to do this with fixed barcode scanners mounted on pallet jacks (machines that operators use to move pallets around), so that the operators will not have to get on and off the pallet jacks each time they move product.
I have all of the bar coding, however I need the ability to map certain hardware devices (barcode scanners) to particular functions (stock move) within Odoo. If possible I would like to avoid these operators having to interact with the odoo interface in order to make these types of transactions
If anybody has any experience with this sort of thing please let me know I would be very interested in how you accomplished the goal.
Thank you in advanced.
