RE: For website themes/snippets/modules developers: mysterious problems of users (non-english websites)par
Replying to myself …
Problem is coming from translations, expecially the website/i18n/fr.po file. I corrected it in transifex; hope it will be validated soon.
‘</br>’, and ‘&’ are not valid html code. It made the snippets module crash … because of syntax errors -> etree.fromstring function cannot parse invalid html.
I have the same problem with odoo9 and latest commits from github, even with a clean install.
As soon as I change the default language to French, snippets doesn’t work anymore. Server log is attached.
I have a test database, created in September with odoo9, that is working with both languages (FR and EN) set as default.
Any idea ? See attached log, with JSON error and the latest SQL queries before related to translation.
Tried to find what can be the problem and differences, especially in the ir_ui_view table, without success yet.

The same problems, also if it is en_US set on installation, I managed to edit quite good leaving user language in en_US.

When somebody wants to set up a website in non-english language(s) only, all kind of mysterious problems may occur. Apps/snippets/widgets etc.seem not to work and the problem seems to be incomprehensible.
This might well be caused by the fact that the user has not installedenglish-US when setting up his website.
maybe this is usable for error tracking in some cases--twanda AGErmin TrevisanArtherstrasse 19CH-6318 WalchwilT +41 41 758 1515M +41 79 208 7373
