Hi All;

I am using OPEN ERP version 6.0 LTS and I would to know if it is possible to have Arabic Interface (the fields) with the ability to enter the data in arabic words and characters?

If yes, then what about the new versions?

Any link that can help me to enable arabic language?

Regards Bilal

You can use Arabic text anywhere. Just install Arabic keyboard in you operating system.

To use Arabic interface, you need to to install Arabic translation from Settings->Load a Translation. OpenERP 6.1 supported Arabic interface only in GTK client due to this bug that was partially solved in OpenERP 7.0.

Right-to-left interface is still not supported.

+1 for Mohammad Ali

The right to left is suppoted in the web interface, good luck

@Yug Faa, by right-to-left I mean the interface direction starts from the right edge which is not yet supported in OpenERP.

@Ali check this and reply to me <pre>direction: rtl;</pre> in the css file class .openerp

@Yug Faa, I could not find any rtl properties in any css files except some jquery-ui files in OpenERP 7.0

@Ali, I try it and it works, find the snapshot here : <a href="http://www.imagup.com/npic/1177447023.html"><img src="http://npic.imagup.com/2/1177447023.png" /></a> Confirm me

@Yug Faa, RTL is not as simple as adding direction: rtl; or dir="rtl" attribute. A lot of properties has embedded directionality; margin, padding, float, align, ...etc. Check this article for some tips on rtl styling.

@ali. your comments on RTL support are right on the mark. the GTK client in 6.1 was the best support ever provided. the web client has always been lacking. there is no requirement for making the field context sensitive (a difficult choice) because openerp forces you to select language first. this may make a solution easier.
