I have a small spice business that is growing and wanted to organize and "future proof" it. I run off of excel spreadsheets currently. Not very efficient. Ive watched several of the videos and read some of the documentation, however it is not clear where I should begin. Looking at the inventory app it wasnt what I thought it would be. Long and short of it, I need to be able to have a place for all my raw product, final mixed product ( to be subtracted from raw) and finished bottled product. Odoo newbie here, be gentle. Thanks you

Seems you would need the manufacturing app to convert raw materials to final mixed product and subsequently finished bottled product.

If I were you, I would start by creating the products and BOMs (which have the conversion ratios) so inventory can track and tally at each stage of this flow.

1. Create product category - navigate to Inventory > Configuration > Product Categories
Raw material
Final Mixed products
finished bottled product

2. Create each product (Odoo does not differentiate between raw material or finished each intermediator stage has been defined as a product. navigate to Inventory > Products > Products

For each product critical to define
a. UoM (Unit of measure) - units or weight - There is buying and selling UoM that can be differentiated
b. Product category
c. cost and price
d. in inventory tab mark the applicable routes (buy for raw material and manufacture for mixed and bottled)

3. Create BOMs for each of the products in Mixed and Bottled category
a. Manufactured product UoM
b. Components and UoM

This should get you started.

Next Step, would be to update the Qty in hand for each product. You should be set to start receiving, delivering and manufacturing operations

n Odoo, you can create warehouse locations to store finished products or simply create product categories and assign them. From there, you can generate relevant reports related to the finished products, excluding raw materials. It is recommended to have local or online support to better understand the usage. However, for basic requirements, you can refer to tutorial videos that provide step-by-step instructions. Following those instructions should suffice for your needs.

Hi,

In inventory, we can do a lot of operations where we can create warehouse, routes, transfers, products, etc

You can refer to this odoo book of inventory
