I'm trying to use Odoo in a print shop production environment. In our current ERP system, we have the ability to "uncheck" a completed work center operation, so that the word order shows up in the work center again. This can happen for various reasons. The typesetter lays out the order and finishes their operation. Then the proofreader checks the work as a separate operation. If they find a problem, the order goes BACK to typesetting. Or the artwork for that order could go to the customer for approval. If they make a change it has to go BACK to typesetting. The same sort of thing can happen at the printing press if the pressman finds a problem with a printing plate, or the printing plate is damaged. Then the order has to go BACK to the plate making work center to make a replacement plate.

I don't see any way to send an order BACK up the routing. Perhaps I'm just not thinking "the Odoo way" about this. What would this sort of scenario be called in a production environment?

We fixed this ourselves by creating our own app for prepress. Prepress is no longer part of our "production" process. That was the biggest reason an order may go backwards. Once it hits the printing press, it should never need to go back. If some product is ruined in production, we just make another MO.

Thanks for quick reply. We have problem with accidentally pressed "Done" button instead of "Pause" and can't undo. We don't know how to handle it. Do you have any solution?

I feel your pain. Odoo is very strict. It assumes that no one is ever going to make a mistake. I find it very difficult to recover from mistakes.

We've tried adding in that step again into the operations, but you can't rearrange the operations. So, you have to delete all the subsequent operations and add them all back in again.

The other thing you could to do is cancel the entire MO, duplicate it, and start over. If you are in the middle of the job, just pretend to complete the previous steps.

I would also suggest some more training. "Pause" isn't anywhere close to "mark as done" on the screen, nor are the words "pause" and "done" similar in meaning at all. If there is a language problem, you could install a translation that the user actually speaks. We've done that for Spanish speaking users. If you are "pausing" in order to go work on some other MO, then there isn't really a need to "pause" the job. Just navigating away from the job will pause it. Just don't close the browser window, because THAT won't pause the job. If you really are pausing to like go to lunch or use the restroom, then you need to click "pause".
