I have two Company-type contacts created separately, but one is a subsidiary of the main one in another country. I'm using Odoo v18.4 (Online).
I tried to edit the "child" company contact and link to the parent one by first editing and switching it to "Person" type first so that the "Company" field appears, then select the parent company's name on that field. But on saving, it triggers "You cannot set a partner as an invoicing address of another if they have a different Tax ID." error.
Is there something I also need to change for this to push through? Temporarily changing the child company's address and TIN ID to be the same as parent's doesn't work.
But when I create a new child company from scratch, it works fine. I appreciate if anyone has workarounds on this.
I cannot reproduce your problem, but you can try to first link the contacts and then to change the type of the linked contact from "contact" to "invoice".
Another way that always works for me is to ex- und import the data. Look for fields like "type" of the contact and "parent" id.
Hi Parker - I can't link the two to begin with. Saving one with the other as it's "Company" causes the error message.
I'm not sure if it's because the "child" contact already has a few vendor bills tagged to it...?
