Hello, we are trying to give access to Helpdesk module executives just to create contacts containing following common fields:

  • Name

  • Company

  • Job

  • Email

  • Phone

  • Mobile

We were trying to give those access through Groups -> adding a duplicate from "Extra Rights: Contact Creation" but changing access right to read/create in some options and denying it's access to see Contacts module.

Any help would be grateful!

Thanks before hand!.

Hi,

It seems you have taken the duplicate of the Group Extra Rights/Contact Creation , make sure that the record rules and access rights defined for the same group has also been get duplicated. Also, Rather than duplicating the group you can assign this group for the help-desk executives right, for the contact creation.

Thanks

Hello, thanks for your answer

When duplicating the group Extra Rights/Contact Creation, it also duplicates it's following rules and access rights, so I don´t think that's the problem.

If I add Helpdesk executives group to inherit Extra Rights/Contact Creation, they will be able to do so, but there will be two problems:

- They will be able to manage and modify contacts, we just need them to create them.

- If there is a rule defined for the group so they would be able to do it, that rule would also apply to any group inheriting Extra Rights/Contact Creation.

The solution we were trying is to make a new group with "Less Access Rights" that would allow them to See and Create, but not to Delete or Modify, here is where we have been struggling since when you try to create a contact, it would give an error of access right, if we allow them to write, it will allow them to create them, but that wouldn't solve the problem, since they would be able to modify all contacts.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Thanks beforehand

"e when you try to create a contact, it would give an error of access right, if we allow them to write, it will allow them to create them,"" - getting confused with this. You create a new group, give access rights for that group, just read only permission. So that this user group can view it.

The thing is they should be able to create and read, but not write;

So if I give this access to them in res.partner:

- Read ✔

- Write

- Create ✔

- Delete

It won't let them create them from contact card form (where you fill any information), only way is to give them this level of access now:

- Read ✔

- Write ✔

- Create ✔

- Delete

But then they will be able to change any field they want in any contact.

Is there a way to allow this withouth giving them write access?

Maybe there is another solution to this too.
