Odoo Version: 10.x

Operating System used: Windows 7

Question: Is it possible to use or import the data that is on a hard drive from a computer that won't boot any more to a new computer that has Odoo installed using the same original installation file? I can access all the files on the old drive, I just don't know if it is possible or how to get the new computer to use those files.

For example: Can I take all the files from following folder on the old hard drive "C:\program files\Odoo 10.0\PostgreSQL" and paste them over top of the files in "C:\program files\Odoo 10.0\PostgreSQL" on the new computer , reboot and have the old database open up when I launch Odoo?

I don't have a database back to import from and I am not a database expert so I'm not sure where the actual data files even reside. I am just guessing at the folder structure above. If I didn't give enough details, please let me know. I'm not sure how else to explain what I am trying to find out.

The Odoo data base contains a local file store (the location is dependent on the installation procedure) and the corresponding Postgres databases. It is possible to attach existing Postgres databases to a Postgres server running on an other computer. Then you can create a backup of the database and restore it together with the filestore on a new Odoo installation. But that is not an Odoo issue. Please refer to the corresponding Postgres information sources for further information.
