Does anyone know what the kitten mode is used for?

I only know how to enable it (see here) and that I can see a cat in the background when the mode is enabled :-)

Update: What does the kitten mode exactly do in term of functionality?

  1. Showing a cat in the background
  2. ...

The purpose of kitten mode is for OpenERP consultants to gain the full support, and cooperation and, yeeess, affection of their client's secretaries.

What it does is provide forum managers with a focal point to vote each other extraordinary numbers of karma points.

Of course they also get Giggle Points, a secret points system like Karma Points, that they award each other for the best laughs at the expense of ordinary members. At the OpenERP annual staff picnic, the guy with the most Giggle Points wins a taxidermic plaque called the CatAssTrophe.

But what exaclty does it do in terms of functionality? I have updated my question.

Isn't the possibility to make cats appear totally sufficient as a feature? I think so.

So that is where OpenERP succeeded and SAP failed. Now I get it! I'm done trying to sell OpenERP by talking about useless features like open source, integrated business apps, etc. From now on, anybody who asks me "Why OpenERP?" I'll just answer "kitten mode, dude, kitten mode"

As very serious studies show: it's a fact that cats are currently taking over the world of apps and of internet (especially youtube) and the same studies explain us how you can attract cats, please them and make them love your software. For example, see http://www.nngroup.com/articles/mobile-usability-cats/ or http://www.usertesting.com/blog/2013/04/01/test-your-mobile-app-with-cats/?mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRonuKXOZKXonjHpfsX56%2B8kUKa0lMI%2F0ER3fOvrPUfGjI4ATsFjI%2BSLDwEYGJlv6SgFTbDMMbdtybgIXxM%3D

OpenERP is a precursor in every domain, and we strongly believe that soon, the cats will start glancing at ERP's and business application suites. Accordingly, we have made the kitten mode a priority to be ready to gather as much as we can of this new market slice.

Soon, the kitten mode will be enhanced by terrific features such as

  • animated mouse following your cursor(possibility to select different animations)
  • roaring and miauwing
  • sounds more background pics available
  • ...

Soon released also our brand new red-fish and our superhero modes! Stay tunned!

Ah! The lolcat theory of Kitten Mode!

Ho, the roaring has already been implemented in the im module, just wait for it to be merged in the trunk.

Kitten make you feel good, gives luck and prints a smile on everyone face.

When introduced in OpenERP, sadness lowered for more than 10% in the World !

The day when you get fired by your boss, that's also something like the emergency button, just ask him to switch to that feature of OpenERP and you're back in for years.

Some say it also prevents from becoming crazy/deaf if you listen to Justin Bieber, but I've never been brave enough to try it myself.

Anyway, everyone has to follow the most interesting man in to world :
