what does the exchange rate type in currency conversion mean?

Hi All,

I am new to currency conversion in ERP. I want to know what does the Exchange Rate type mean and why does it required for the conversion? Also I want to know the rounding feature for currency conversion. Need the answer badly :(

I was looking for the same answer and found this in the code (OpenERP v7 res_currency.py:255):

Allow you to define your own currency rate types, like 'Average' or 'Year to Date'. Leave empty if you simply want to use the normal 'spot' rate type

So I believe it's pretty much your choice how to use it.
