Trouble installing non-official modules

on 1/20/15, 12:25 AM 603 views

I have installed Odoo 8 from sources, following these instructions : https://www.odoo.com/documentation/8.0/setup/install.html
Then I ran the server without any troubles and I were able to install and use source included modules such as Project Management, Sales Management, etc... into a Demo database.

However, I cannot see my own modules into the interface (it does not appear into the list of modules of Settings > Modules > Local Modules):

  • The 'addons_path' is good as I can see "2015-01-20 04:59:00,891 18441 DEBUG ? openerp.http: Loading nameofmymodule" into the logs
  • The file '__openerp__.py' is good as per documentation and compared to other official modules

You have to activate the technical features for your Odoo users. Do this under Settings > Users. Open up your user and check on 'Technical Features'. You then have the update module list option!

If your custom modules are in diffrent place then give that path while you run the server.

Once server works fine then, go to Settings -> Update Module List

It will Open A wizard , and from that you can update module list.

Now, go to Local Module list and you can visible your customized modules.

Thank you Nimesh for your answer. There is no "Update Module List" into my Odoo 8 as there was in OpenERP 7, just "Updates" and I have already test that with no success...

EDIT after Yenthe answer:

Indeed, that's why I wasn't able to see the menu "Update Modules List'. Thanks a lot Yenthe.

No problem. Best of luck!
