Traceability / Serial number. V8 online

Does traceability of serial numbers only work with point of sale module?

Problem:

With incoming goods A warning that I must enter a serial number is displayed followed by a field to enter the s/no.

However, It does not work on sales. No message & no field to enter the s/no.

In products > inventory > Lots I have tried both "full lots traceability" and "track incoming lots" + "trtack outgoing lots" Together.

Still the same.

Searched & found a video on this subject, the auther used the same method for incoming/ receiving goods but to sell used point of sale rather than "sales". On products configured for traceability it worked perfectly.

I installed point of sale to try it but got an exception:

ValidateError

Field(s) `company_id, journal_ids` failed against a constraint: The company of a payment method is different than the one of point of sale.

For now, I would just like to know if I am correct about P.o.s. being the only way to hadle outgoing serial numbers.


Any ideas please?

Hello Geoff. I just tested Serial numbers in Sales orders.

I created a test product and set Full traceability for it. Then I created Sales order and opened a Picking list, I pressed a button 'Transfer' - I got a warning  Warning! You must assign a serial number for the product. So there is a warning message and field to enter s/no.  There might be wrong configuration in your system. It is enough to activate "Track lots or serial numbers" in Setting and Set the product properly (stockable product + Full traceability)



Thanks. I just tried it with settings applied correctly in warehouse and product, received product, assigned ser no then sol;d it through sales > sales orders > create. I didnt get a warning to assign ser no. The only difference i noticed is that i didnt get a "transfer" button! I think the answer lies in that but i dont know what else to look at?

If you do not see Transfer button once you go to "View Delivery Order",how do you move stock from your warehouse to Customers?

Hi

I use the WMS screens to enter a serial number and that works OK.

However...... it isn't checked as being a valid serial number, i.e. you can use a serial number that isn't in stock or even exist.


May I ask if anyone knows how to only despatch serial numbers that are in stock?

Dave. You should prevent stock with serial from going negative. But it seems that there is no such a thing in standard Odoo 8 and you need extra module.

Hi. I have the 'Stock Transfer Restrict Lot' app but it only works for lots that already exist. i.e. you can create a lot at sales order despatch!! May I ask if you please know the correct app/module I need? thanks, Dave

Hi May I ask if this issue was solved for you? i.e. you can only enter a lot number as sales despatch that has been created previously. and at V9? thanks, Dave
