The desktop client is not compatible with OpenERP 7.0. - there is no longer an official desktop client.

Try OpenERP 6.1 - one of the builds at http://runbot.openerp.com/

but is there any way to test 6.1 client with online oerp server.

6.1 client can connect to a 6.1 server (only). Connect to a 6.1 server from runbot.
