If a product has a BOM of type Phantom Set then should that product necessarily be Consumable or Stockable?

If it is set to Consumable then a Delivery Order will not check Stock that the Phantom Sets components are available.

If is is set to Stockable then it doesn't make sense because a Phantom Set is, by definition, never stocked.

The third option, Service, is not even considered.

We assume that there is only one BOM per product.

I would like to see an answer on this. The docs don't seem to have anything. Can someone with experience give an explanation? It would save a lot of people time experimenting and reading code. My first impression as that they should be consumable.

As far as I know, phantom sets that are put on sale orders are exploded into their components in the delivery order. So it makes no difference whether they are consumable or stockable, because they will never be stocked, nor moved. However, it is important that the components are stockable.
