Reverse Proxy Odoo Running On Windows 8

Hello,

I asked a more general question on reverse proxying of Odoo that did not receive any responses.  I'm running Odoo on a Windows 8 computer, mainly for inventory control, ordering, and POS functionality.  I want to use Odoo as my customer website as well.

1)  Is it possible to install just the website portion of Odoo on my hosting providers website and have it just connect back to my Odoo backend?

2) If that is not possible can I use a reverse proxy like Nginx?

3) What webserver does Odoo run on Windows?  Is it just Apache or is it something else.  On my hosting site I will need to install the linux version of Odoo which will require Apache.

4) Is there any tutorials for securing Odoo websites?  I know if I only install the website module it shouldn't have any other functionality.

I can't comment on this but it sure seems pretty hard.

As far as I know, odoo does not use apache. It uses werkzeug.

Can I use a reverse proxy like Nginx?

Yes, you can. I am using it on my linux server and it's working fine. You run the odoo server normally (werkzeug) and then setup an nginx proxy.

Is there any tutorials for securing Odoo websites?  I know if I only install the website module it shouldn't have any other functionality.

There are some tutorials available but pretty much all of them are about setting up proxy server that uses HTTPS.
