Hi @ all!

At Odoo - Download page I saw the new v8.0(RC). Does this mean, that this version is stable and ready for productive use?

I´m running a Hairstyling & Barbershop salon with 3 employees and wholesale.

I want to use stock management - , sales - , finance -, POS - and WEB - modules (Homepage and store).

Which is best practice for the installation and updating, from GitHub or nightly.openerp.com?

I´d like to run it as a reverse proxy installation with NGINX and ISPConfig on a scalable V-server. My test-system is already working but I´m a little concerned about updating and patching the system as not beeing an expert in programming nad server hosting.

Many thanks in advance for any recommandation.

Greetings from Vienna

Bernhard

RCs are not ready for production. I suggest you to wait for the final release, that is expected to be released this month. For a 3 users implementation, you should go for the online offer, it's way more easy and up-to-date. Everything is setup out-of-the-box.

No, RCs are not intended for production use.

That setup is almost exactly what I'm running right now and it's been fine the last 7 months in production.  As long as you keep both the test environment and production environment, and run all updates on the test environment first, you should be fine.

I can't really comment on production use, but this information might be useful, in case you haven't seen it yet:

github.com/odoo/odoo/wiki/GitHub-Transition

I found it mentioned in

www.odoo.com/forum/help-1/question/what-is-the-status-of-odoo-v8-stable-status-translations-migrated-to-github-60225

I've been recommended to install from the community mainted github.com/OCA/OCB repo - but again that might not be ready for production use.

Hope the urls don't get stripped out...

Hi Deniz, thx, very interesting! I knew the links. In terms of installing OCA/OCB this might be interesting for you: https://github.com/OCA/OCB/compare/odoo:8.0...8.0
