Hi Friends,

Which is better to use for a big company? Odoo V7 or Odoo V8?.Any chance to occur problems/bugs in V8 or is it stable?

And is there any chance to release odoo V9?

Thanks.....

Some of V7 modules can work on v8, but due to difference in models and api, not all v7 modules will work... number of modules ported to new versions gorw from day to day, and as soon as some module is ported to new version adn tested, it should be published... diff from v7-v8 are related mostly to product and stock models, so modules related to these models need to be rewritten from scratch or carefully reorganized in order to work in new version...

all are good, depending on your needs and knowledge..
V9 is trunk , meaning not stable, not released but in development..
V8 & V7 are stable releases - meaning they are tested and stable, but not 100% bug free...
-> bugs are found & corrected on daily bases, (monitor github repositories for progress or ifno on bugs and fixes )

As for chance of releasing odoo v9, i'd say the chance for release is about 100%, also.. date of release is not yet announced,
(about the same as Ubuntu 15, or Windows 11... apparently they will be here.. as soon as they are ready)

Hope this helps :)

It all depends on your needs.
V7 is now a well established version and a lot of community modules exist for it. It is nonetheless lacking a few improvements present in the next version.
A company wishing to use a tool with POS and CMS (website module, marketing module) capabitilities would definitely go towards v8, as the "front office" is the way to go and will grow more and more present in the next releases.
