[meta] How can a question be considered resolved?

When a question has an answer is it considered resolved? Or is there a resolved button which allows the original poster or administrator to state the question resolved?

This is an excellent question. I notice that many askers are not accepting a right answer.

This is an important thing to do because:

  • it's an appreciation for the person that helped you,
  • allows for contributors to find the questions that still need a correct answer, and
  • makes it easier for other people with the same question to find a good answer.

The correct answer should be selected by the person posting the question. This is done clicking in the button just below the answer's voting arrows:

Questions with accepted answer will also have this icon shown in the question list:

Please try to give a substantial answer. If you wanted to comment on the question or answer, just use the commenting tool. Please remember that you can always revise your answers - no need to answer the same question twice. Also, please don't forget to vote - it really helps to select the best questions and answers!
