Quality Alerts can be raised by workers during any operation where products are handled – receiving, q/a, put away, transfer, picking, packing, shipping, drop shipping, manufacturing order, work order, etc – and are PER product, PER Lot/Serial, PER Work Center, etc.

This is the equivalent of reactively supporting a worker to “raise their hand”, but keep working.

Quality Tests (pass/fail, measure, photograph, notes) can be required during any operation where products are handled – receiving, q/a, put away, transfer, picking, packing, shipping, drop shipping, manufacturing, etc – and are PER product, PER Lot/Serial, PER Work Center, etc.

This is the equivalent of proactively instructing a worker to “check before proceeding” (every operation, randomly, every X days/weeks/months), and either block them or allow them to keep working.

In Odoo, a Quality Point is the term used to define the Test [what] and the operation(s) [when] it needs to be completed and a Quality Check is the term used for the results of the Test.

Both Alerts and Tests can be routed to/managed by Quality Teams – you can have a team for meeting different quality needs, such as: OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), Internal Quality (ISO 9000), External Compliance (FDA, USDA, etc) or teams for different approaches: such as Sampling, Process Control, SQC (Statistical Quality Control), TQM (Total Quality Management), Six Sigma, etc.
