Has anyone seen a template Chart of Accounts module for Hong Kong?

I'm looking for something to get started with a small online shop, however i'm not quite sure where to start in regards to building my own custom chart of accounts, specifically one that would work on a basic level for Hong Kong.

Any guidance or help on this subject would be much appreciated.

A Hong Kong Chart of Accounts + Localisation is currently being developed for 8.0 here:

https://github.com/browseinfo/l10n_hk

You can track it's progress in the above repo, however it's still a work in progress.

In the meantime you can check submissions from Amit and Yoshi on the accounting mailing list here:

Accounting & Finance mailing list:

https://www.odoo.com/groups

There has been discussion in regards to setting up Hong Kong localisation including the COA:

https://www.odoo.com/groups/community-accounting-and-finance-61/community-accounting-and-finance-13003372?mode=thread&date_begin=&date_end=

In the above community mailing list thread there is a few examples submitted from Amit and Yoshi that may help with your own Hong Kong COA setup in the meantime.

for anyone reading this post. The Hong Kong Chart of Accounts & Localisation module is ready in beta stage now:

https://github.com/browseinfo/l10n_hk

A final stable module will be submitted to the OCA here:

https://github.com/OCA/l10n-china

Once it has passed the tests and requirements setup by the OCA.

An Odoo sales rep has told me that several local Odoo partners in Hong Kong have created modules for accounting in Hong Kong for their customers. However, they do not wish to make it available open source.

@Maarten,
Thanks for your comment.
I have a template COA in a basic spreadsheet that I am looking to turn into an Odoo module in a similar manner to the other COA templates, however I have next to no accounting know-how whatsoever.

I'd be happy to begin working on it in a month or so when I can find time, and posting my work in an open-source community module on github, however I think I would need the help of someone with accounting knowledge to collaborate with me on this particular project.

If yourself or anyone else is willing to collaborate with me on this, I would be happy to build the module using the template COA that I have on hand (already in dual language - English and Traditional Chinese).

There have been submissions by both Amit and Yoshi for workable COA's for Hong Kong in CSV format. I'd recommend digging around the current emails in the link above to find the attachments, and joining the Accounting and Finance mailing list so that you can participate in the development.

Hello Luke,

Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks for your email. This is really helpful!

Best regards,

According to my very bad experience (ended in an unusable odoo installation, see https://www.odoo.com/forum/help-1/question/8-0-severe-issue-constraint-error-when-creating-chart-of-accounts-from-self-defined-account-templates-69497), I recommend you to take an existing localization module with a small chart of accounts, create a copy and adapt this module to your needs. I have never got a feedback on my post or on my bug report.

Woha your bug report on Github looks pretty severe. Sadly 90% of the reports seem to be simply ignored.. >.

If I am correct, it for sure is really severe. And my brother, who is managing an OpenERP system since years (but not 8.0) could not find a solution either. And if I'm correct, I can not understand that there is no reaction, what are you supposed to do with an ERP system, where you can't setup your own chart of accounts.
