Every technology has Pros and Cons. Also, 'Accounting' means different things to different people, and there are different requirements influenced by standards and legislation in your region of the world; the type of industry you are in; the company you work for; and the skills and philosophies of the Controller/CFO/Accounting team/Payments team. Are you also doing stock accounting? (Valuing work in progress etc?).
We have had good experience in the USA with our clients, although OpenERP isn't GAAP compliant. All of our clients have been able to be successful with the Accounting module without major issues.
Hi Ray, How do you do stock accounting & Valuing work in progress etc that are very obvious for US? I am actually in need of this feature
We actually shared the details of our methodology via a webinar. The slides and recording are available at http://www.ursainfosystems.com/webinar
I am thinking of everyday accounting, especially where it concerns bookkeeping and double entry. I really do not want to look elsewhere. I like the software but where it does not perform as to expectations, then one might have to start reinventing the learning curve. only time will tell. I think I will hop over to launchpad and report an invoice payment problem. I think it's a bug but something not really expected. Thanks Ray.
something as basic as this: http://help.openerp.com/question/701/how-to-reconcile-one-payment-for-3-invoices/. a customer invoice in open state is not even editable on my client. I opened a ticket for it. http://help.openerp.com/question/25811/what-did-i-do-that-was-wrong-or-failed-to-do/. I wish it's not real.
Yes - paying an Invoice works. Check out this document to understand how to set things up properly - http://media.readthedocs.org/pdf/openerp-61-documentation/latest/openerp-61-documentation.pdf
