Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software. It includes hundreds of business apps:
CRM | e-Commerce | Accounting | Inventory | PoS | Project management | MRP | etc.
We manufacture custom tiles. Our tiles come in a variety of colors, finishes and sizes. The large matrix of options is ideal for Odoo's variants model, where we build one product line with many variants (>100,000 items generated). When we try to build the template there is no problem but the system quickly bogs down as we try to populate the variants (loading screen runs forever, even overnight). We went back and tried importing from spreadsheets and even loading the data directly to the tables. It appears that anything over 200 items at a time just triggers a timeout.
After finally successfully creating our inventory items, the next problem was trying to use the system. Running a customer order also takes forever (loading screen for minutes at a time). We have the checked the server's resources and the server appear to be idling at 10-20%, so we don't think that is the problem.
Obviously we must be doing something wrong.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any advice for us? We are using the community edition running on a Windows server.
Maybe you should think of dynamic variants based on dynamic BoMs and sales orders. Did you check all the work done by the OdooMRP team in the Apps store? Especially this one: https://apps.openerp.com/apps/modules/8.0/sale_product_variants/
