How to use a specific (or different) country Accounts template?

How can I change my "generic" Odoo Accounts module to use the UK Accounts template?

Must I uninstall the existing Accounts module?

When I tried to install the UK Accounting module it wouldn't do it, since I already have Accounts installed. How can I uninstall Accounts--without losing my data--so that I can then install the UK Accounting module?

It is not easy but I was successful once (but without any postings or other entries in the journals!!!!). I do not remember the exact procedure, but maybe it helps:

Go to Settings/Technical/Configuration Wizards and set the accounting wizards to "To Do".

Install the module https://apps.openerp.com/apps/modules/8.0/account_chart/ to hopefully remove the sample chart of accounts.

Install the chart of accounts for the country of your choice. If you only have templates, but no account, set the accounting wizards to "To Do" again and try the following:

Install the module https://www.odoo.com/apps/modules/8.0/account_chart_update/

After some fiddling around I was finally successful.

Aitor Bouzas, when I download the UK version in the link, it doesn't let me install it in my existing Odoo account. Does this mean I would have to uninstall my existing Accounts module (would this wipe out any existing data?) and then install the UK version?

Hello,

Have you tried installing the module corresponding to the UK accounting?

Hope it helps: https://www.odoo.com/apps/modules/online/l10n_uk/
