For reporting in openERP, you can download and install the "OpenOffice Plugin" in your "OpenOffice".
It's very simple to use for report designing among various other tools.
After setting up and connecting to your openERP server from the "OpenOffice" you can select "Open a new Report" option from the "OpenERP Report Designer" menu available in your "OpenOffice" after installing the plugin.
Then select the "Project" module from the list for creating report in "OpenOffice", and add fields and texts you want here.
Finally save your report and click on "Send to the Server" option from the "OpenERP Report Designer" menu to export the report to openERP.
Now go to the "Project" module in your openERP and switch to Tree View. Then select any project from the list, and click on the "Print" dropdown there you can find the report you've created.
Select that report from the "Print" and You can download the PDF and take print out of it.
This is also available in the Modules List.
