I can see everywhere on forum name of group such as : base.group_partner_manager, but with the UI when I list groups, I only see "Functional name". Where can I find the list with all the "technical name" of group.

If I create a group called : "My functional name of group", when configuring my with, do I have to write : <field groups="My functional name of group" name="standard_price"/> ?

FIRST METHOD (one group)

  1. Activate Developers Mode (Click your login in the top right corner of the screen, select About Openerp, then click Activate the Developer Mode)
  2. From the Debug menu, select View Log. The XML ID is the 'technical name'.

Example for Sales / Manager Group:

SECOND METHOD (all groups)

  1. Export the groups - all you need to export is the NAME field, but the APPLICATION field also helps because NAME isn't unique.
  2. The ID field contains the same information

Example (without APPLICATION field):

Also - records you enter via the UI will not have an XML ID until you export them, so the first method won't work until after you export via the second method. If it sounds confusing - this is one of the biggest things you need to understand to successfully import and export data!

in field user technical name:

<field groups="technical name" name="standard_price"/> .

the technical group names are used in code xml for modules .you can not change.

to see :/my_module/security/module_security.xml

for example in module base : /base/security/base_security.xml
