How can I get out of the "New" status for an item in a Delivery Order?

Assume OpenERP is configured to automatically generate a Delivery Order from a confirmed Sale Order. I've edited the Delivery Order to add items. The items from the unchanged Delivery Order have a status of either Available or Waiting Availability. The added items have a status of New which doesn't change when I click on Check Availability.

It is informative to a certain extent to know what items have been added to the Delivery Order. But, it is essential to Check Availability in order to proceed with the Delivery.

For all items marked New, open the item, click on Process Later. This will move it out of the New state and into the next appropriate state.
