In previous release of OpenERP, it was possible to add external documents (cg Word files) to the description of business information (contracts, etc). I have installed the all-in-one installation package for evaluation and I don't find the knowledge package in the configuration interface.

You might try to install the Document module from Settings > Installed Modules. Make sure to remove the Installed filter, to show also uninstalled modules. This module will allow you to add attachments in various formats.
To expand on what Els said:
1) Install the modue Document Management System from Settings -> Installed Modules, and confirm the popup.
2) Navigate to the page you wish to attach your files to and use the Attachment(s) button, and select the file you wish to attach.
