Cannot replace current chart of accounts with another one

when installing canadian chart of accounts set your accounting options screen opens but cannot be saved because -the following fields are invalid - company there is no company field available on the screen so I cannot proceed.

A company is set up. The canadian chart of accounts template is available in the accounting section but does not replace the default that was set up initially. Are there any suggestions as to how to overcome this problem?

You can only install a singe chart of accounts per company, and it's not really supported to replace it with another one. If you're just testing with a new installation, the easiest solution is probably to re-create a new database and make sure you never select any Chart of Account except the Canadian one.

The error probably comes from the fact that your database does not have any company that has no Chart of Accounts installed, so it cannot offer you any choice for installing the Canadian one.

This seems to be a common request at fresh setup at least. If it cannot be replaced I expect it can be massaged. Working on a solution to this myself (separate question posted earlier today)
