on 10/7/14, 9:01 AM 2,366 views

Trying the following code:

from openerp import models, fields

class SomeClass(models.Model):
    _inherit = 'sale.order'

    description = fields.Char(default="Some text")

Getting the following error:

Changing the code to:

from openerp import models, fields

class SomeClass(models.Model):
    _inherit = 'res.partner'

    description = fields.Char(default="Some text")

... and everything goes with no errors.

What is the correct way to inherit from SalesOrder in Odoo v8?
Need to add some fields to the base model.

Has your model defined to depend on sale module?

Make sure in __openerp__.py you have "sale" in your depends list. Otherwise it is unable to find it.

It worked. Thank you for your help! Please mark this question as "solved".

Check whether you have insatalled CRM and SALES MANAGEMENT....

both differs with functionality.. sale.order belong to SALES MANAGEMENT..

Sure, sales management module is installed and "sale.order" model is seen in the database structure.
