Our finance department needs all the reports in excel format instead of pdf. How can we do that?

Another option:

https://www.openerp.com/apps/7.0/report_xls/

This module adds Excel export capabilities to the standard OpenERP reporting engine.

Note: If you have a supported version of OpenERP (or are evaluating with 3 users or less), you can also find this in the Apps menu and install via one click.

Unable to locate this app in the available list for Saas users!

Saas users are only able to install certified modules. These are mainly the ones OpenERP wrote. This one was written by a Gold partner in Belgium - https://www.openerp.com/partners/directory/-450/Noviat+s.a.

"If you use OpenERP online, you can only use quality certified modules. If you need to use community modules, you have to install OpenERP on premise." - from https://www.openerp.com/pricing

You may also use Pentaho Report Designer. We are using it to run some complex reports for our customers.

You can do that using Aeroo Reports.
